ARTIST MOVES INTO GALLERY WINDOW

EAST HAMPTON, New York (Wireless Flash) – An artist in the ritzy resort town of East Hampton, New York, is protesting the area’s high rents by moving into a tiny display window. Artist Alex Echo has set up house in a 7-by-11-foot rectangle and says he’ll stay there until he can find an affordable place to live. Echo recently became homeless after his future landlords realized they could get $2000 a month for the bedroom he was about to rent for $600. Since moving into the display window, the artist sleeps, eats does laundry and paints in full view of passers-by. However, he’s keeping some personal habits private: he uses an enclosed bathroom in the back of the gallery for hygiene matters.
