PIANIST ROGER WILLIAMS SETS SIGHTS ON KEY RECORD

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Pop music pianist Roger Williams is shooting for the Guinness Book of World Records. On June 12, the 76 year old will attempt to break his own world record by playing piano non-stop for more than 12 hours. Williams – who hit No. 1 in 1955 with “Autumn Leaves” – set the record of 12 hours last year but plans to go at least 30 minutes longer this time. He’s been training for the event by stretching his fingers, running three miles a day and drinking lots of vegetable juice. In addition, he plans to avoid taking trips to the bathroom by “cutting a hole in the piano bench.” Williams will make the attempt at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, on a piano he will donate to the library afterwards.
