GEORGE WASHINGTON’S PANTS TO BE AUCTIONED

GEORGE WASHINGTON’S PANTS TO BE AUCTIONED

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – It’s impossible to get into the head of George Washington but an upcoming auction will allow Americans to get into his pants. On June 28, the Butterfields auction house in Los Angeles will be selling two outfits that belonged to the first president; a green velvet jacket and waistcoat worth $300,000 and a brown silk jacket and breeches worth at least $250,000. It might surprise you but the auction house claims that, as a youth, Washington was a real fashion plate who spent a wad on the latest fashions. However, he always complained about the fit of his clothes – especially the trousers, which were often too tight and too short for his tall frame. The sale will also include a pair of George’s rhinestone knee breech buckles, which are expected to sell for at least $8000.
