SHAGGY CREDITS SUCCESS TO MARINE CHANTS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – The Marines may not be the quickest path to show business success but it worked for rapping reggae star Shaggy. In fact, he tells TV Guide that his stint in the Marines was all the singing training he needed. Shaggy was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, and developed his style by doing an impression of a rasta drill instructor to crack up his fellow recruits. One of his most popular chants went “I don’t know but I been told/ My CO has panty hose.” It started as a joke but Shaggy’s laughing now because, in his words, “Little did I know it was vocal training.”
