‘DARK SHADOWS’ TURNS 35 TODAY

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – The ’60s gothic soap opera Dark Shadows will celebrate its 35th anniversary today – but for some fans the show is more than fiction – it’s therapy. That’s according to actress Kathryn Leigh Scott, who played Maggie Evans in the vampire-riddled soap. Although Scott’s role as the daughter of an abusive drunk ended with the show in 1971, she still receives letters from young fans saying they relate to her character because they also live with an alcoholic. Not all her fans come from broken homes, though. Scott says she received one letter from a woman with polio who claims watching Scott get kidnapped by vampires helped her forget she was in a wheelchair.
