MICHAEL MORIARTY: ‘JANET RENO LED ME TO ALCOHOLISM’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Law & Order’s former TV lawyer Michael Moriarty has a bone to pick with the former Attorney General Janet Reno – he blames her for his descent into alcoholism. The actor tells TV Guide magazine that in 1993 he met with Reno at a Washington dinner party to discuss violence on TV. Moriarty claims Reno threatened to intervene if TV executives for Law & Order didn’t tone down the violence. Soon after, the actor held a press conference where he blasted Reno and called the dinner party a “kangaroo court.” Moriarty claims he was pushed out of the TV series for his political views by NBC execs, which ultimately led to him taking up the bottle.
