RESEARCH SHOWS FARMERS REFUSE TO RETIRE

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Wireless Flash) – Farmers will plow their fields until they are plowed under themselves. That’s according to researchers at Purdue University who have discovered that retirement isn’t in the vocabulary of most American farmers. An associate professor of consumer and family sciences says farmers can’t imagine themselves doing anything else but working and view retirement as sitting in a rocking chair. Professor Sharon DeVaney says the research shows that farmers may consider slowing down a bit – to 45 hours a week. However, Old McDonald’s wife tells a different story and says she’d like to travel or do more things.
