MOVIEGOERS ASKED TO JOIN TICKET PICKET ON FRIDAY

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Friday the 13th could be a nightmarish day for movie theaters thanks to a proposed nationwide protest called the “Ticket Picket.” An Los Angeles-based website called WeCanDoThis.com is asking theater patrons to protest the high cost of movie tickets by boycotting every movie theater in America this Friday (Jul. 13). “Ticket Picket” spokesman Mark Jonathan Davis says films already cost $10 in New York City and consumers should say something before that price becomes standard elsewhere. Although the protest could cost movie studios and exhibitors big bucks, organizers aren’t without compassion. He says the group chose to have its protest on a day when no real blockbusters were opening to avoid unfairly targeting one particular film.
