DOLLYWOOD TURNS 15 YEARS OLD (JULY 16)

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Wireless Flash) – Dolly Parton has good reason to celebrate on Monday (July 16) – her Dollywood amusement park will turn 15. On July 16, 1986, Dollywood opened its doors in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and quickly became one of the top amusement parks in the U.S. Since then, the park has doubled in size to 100 acres, including a waterpark and a replica of Parton’s childhood home. Although park officials have no plans to celebrate the 15th anniversary, a spokesman expects Dollywood’s 30 millionth visitor will show up some time in the next three weeks.
