WASHINGTON MAN IS ‘MOO-NICURIST’
LYNNWOOD, Wash. (Wireless Flash) – A Washington state man knows something about having a cow – he manicures as many as 50 a day. Doug Van Wieringen is a “professional cow manicurist” who spends his days trimming the tootsies of cows – and that’s no bull. Van Wieringen doesn’t do French manicures but he does remove the hooves of unsightly warts and he massages the cow’s arches until it’s as shapely as can be. He says the luxury treatment helps ensure the cows keep giving milk because long hooves can make the animals cranky and, worse, “lopsided.” Van Wieringen says there’s good money to made as a “moo- nicurist,” but admits he has little competition because “It’s not the most glamorous job.”
