ANTI-BOOZE GROUP CHEWS OUT MAKER OF BEER-FLAVORED GUM

IRVING, Texas (Wireless Flash) – An Indiana man’s plan to market beer-flavored gum to children is causing a brouhaha with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. M.A.D.D.’s national director, Millie Webb, worries that a beer- flavored gum will promote underage drinking by helping kids develop a taste for beer and says the idea is as dangerous as offering nicotine gum to teens. The inventor of the gum insists his product isn’t meant to encourage underage boozing because it’s non-alcoholic and a good source of B- vitamins. MADD suggests parents help their children “get B-vitamins from other sources” besides beer-flavored gum.
