NAME EXPERT GIVES THUMBS DOWN TO NEW ‘STAR WARS’ MOVIE MONIKER

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – George Lucas has just released the title to his upcoming Star Wars installment: Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones – but the name is being panned by one naming expert. Meredith Muncy – who’s named films for several film studios – says Episode II – Attack of the Clones is just too long and awkward to be easily remembered by filmgoers. Even worse, she says the title sounds like a cheap B-movie, which implies it has cheesy special effects and little emotional depth. Muncy says if anyone other than Lucas released a film with a name like that, it would probably flop at the box office. However, she admits Lucas “...could have named the film ‘Engelbert Humperdinck’ and people would still go to see it.”
