‘COOTER’ TO HOST HAZZARD FAN HOEDOWN

SPERRYVILLE, Va. (Wireless Flash) – The guy who played “Cooter” on The Dukes of Hazzard is hosting a hoedown for fans of the corn pone comedy. Actor and former congressman Ben Jones says he will throw a fan gathering called “DukesFest ’01” at his Cooter’s Place country store in Sperryville, Virginia, later this month. Jones says he was inspired to hold the “hazzardous” homecoming because of the show’s current popularity on cable. The August 24 through 26 event will feature more than 50 replicas of the Duke boys’ General Lee, as well as appearances by the actors who played “Roscoe” and “Deputy Cletus” and the widow of the guy who played “Uncle Jessie.” Jones admits the tiny town of Sperryville is small but says visiting fans will find “plenty of cow pastures to park in.”
