‘SINGLED OUT’ HOST TAKES REINS OF NEW DATING SHOW

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – The guy who hosted MTV’s Singled Out is taking the reins of a new dating show. Chris Hardwick has just been tapped to host Shipmates, a “dating reality series” which sends blind daters out to sea together for three days. Hardwick admits he turned the job down when he was first approached because he didn’t want to be stereotyped as that “dating show guy.” However, he changed his mind when he saw footage from the dates – including a scene in which a woman ditches her male date to hook up with another woman. Despite Hardwick’s voyeuristic interest, he says there’s no way he’d ever volunteer to spend three days on a date with a total stranger. “That’s too big a challenge for me,” he says. The syndicated show premieres next Monday (Aug. 27).
