WEBSTER’S DICTIONARY DEBUTS NEW WORDS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – It’s official: the term “hottie” has just been added to the dictionary. The slang word will appear in the next edition of the Random House Webster’s College Dictionary with the definition “a sexually attractive person.” Dictionary editor Wendalyn Nichols says “hottie” made the cut for new words because it has “exploded” in the past year, appearing in places like The New York Times and The Today Show. The dictionary adds anywhere from 100 to 300 new words each year and some of the other new terms for this year include “MP3,” “dot- commer” and “cybersquatting.” However, some words have been cut from the dictionary including “Macarena” and “porta-potty.”
