ACTIVIST GROUP FOR MENTALLY ILL PROTEST SONY AND MATTEL

ARLINGTON, Va. (Wireless Flash) – An activist group for the mentally ill is upset over Sony and Mattel’s decision to sell products that supposedly poke fun at the mentally ill. The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill claims Mattel’s “Psycho” action figure – which comes with an exploding head – and a Sony video game called Twisted Metal: Black both make fun of mentally ill patients and prevent them from getting help. A spokesman for the group says it targets new companies on a monthly basis that are insensitive to the mentally ill, and most respond by correcting the problems. So far Sony and Mattel haven’t responded to the group’s allegations and neither company could be reached for comment.
