HARRY POTTER: MOST REQUESTED BOOK TO BE BANNED

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) – The Harry Potter books are more than a best-selling series, they’re also at the top of the list of books parents want banned from libraries. That’s according to the American Library Association, which, since 1999, has received at least 54 formal requests to ban Potter from library shelves. Apparently, Potter’s magical content offends many people’s religious beliefs. However, magic is rarely a reason for requesting a ban. An ALA spokesperson says sexual content and offensive language are still the biggest offenders. By the way, Banned Books Week celebrates its 20th anniversary starting September 22.
