GAP BAND WON’T PLAY ‘YOU DROPPED A BOMB ON ME’

DETROIT, Mich. (Wireless Flash) – There’s no way to dance around it: Last Tuesday’s terrorist attack is having a major effect on ’80s funk icons, The Gap Band. The group’s biggest hit is 1982’s “You Dropped A Bomb On Me” but the band recently removed the song from its set list out of respect to the victims. Gap Band keyboardist Charlie Wilson insists that “You Dropped A Bomb On Me” is “just a love song” but thinks performing the ditty under the circumstances is tasteless. However, Wilson doesn’t think fans will be disappointed. He says that “Bomb” will be replaced with a new ballad called “Without You,” that he believes is a fitting tribute to the victims. The new tune appears on Wilson’s first solo CD, Bridging The Gap, which features a guest appearance by his nephew, rapper Snoop Dogg.
