‘GOD BLESS AMERICA’ MAKING A COMEBACK

‘GOD BLESS AMERICA’ MAKING A COMEBACK

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Wireless Flash) – Irving Berlin’s patriotic tune “God Bless America” is making a comeback thanks to the recent terrorist attacks – and now, some folks are thinking it should become America’s national anthem. North Carolina-based music expert Philip Furia says he’s hearing lots of Americans wish that “God Bless America” could replace “The Star-Spangled Banner” as their national anthem. It’s not the first time it’s been considered. Back in 1938, Eleanor Roosevelt suggested the tune be declared the official anthem of America. Although Furia thinks the fact that Americans are singing “God Bless America” instead of the national anthem at this time suggests that it’s a better song to represent America, he admits “The Star Spangled Banner” won’t be replaced anytime soon.
