NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – New Yorkers can now have their own “Wanted: Dead or Alive” poster featuring Osama bin Laden. The New York Post distributed a special fold-out bounty poster of the accused terrorist in yesterday’s edition.
LOS ANGELES – Like, oh my god! The brainy blonde heroine of the flick Legally Blonde may soon have her own TV show. The Hollywood Reporter says MGM is in talks with UPN to produce a sitcom based on the summer’s sleeper hit. No word yet on who would play the Reese Witherspoon role.
LONDON – A British mom traveled 900 miles just to deliver a Game Boy her 11-year-old son left behind while packing for a school trip. Carol Dukes says she spent $220 dollars on planes and taxis because her son would have been “devastated to go a whole week without his Game Boy.”
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Jeffersons are moving on up to another set of Denny’s commercials. “George” and “Wheezy” will be touting the chain’s “Triple Play Breakfast” in TV spots starting September 24.
STOCKHOLM – Pop star Elton John says he’s considered adopting a child, but feels that at 54, he’s too old. John recently told the Swedish tabloid, Aftonbladet, that he and his gay partner have thought a lot about adopting, and says, “Had it been 20 years ago, then I would definitely have done it.”
KATHMANDU, Nepal – A British adventurer who had planned to take a hot air balloon over Mt. Everest has canceled his trip after China refused to let him use its airspace over Tibet.
NEW YORK – Last week’s terrorist attack is playing havoc with the logo for Miramax Studios. Insiders say the studio may temporarily change its logo – the word “Miramax” shooting out of a nighttime Manhattan skyline – even though the World Trade Center towers can’t be made out in the skyline.
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – James Bond is leaping out of the movies and into video games. That’s because The World Is Not Enough has been adapted for Game Boys, with players controlling the movements of the super spy.
NEW YORK – Arista Records plans to rerelease Whitney Houston’s recording of “The Star-Spangled Banner” with proceeds going to benefit the New York Police and Fire Departments’ Disaster Relief Funds. Houston performed the song at Super Bowl XXV, and it was a radio hit during the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
PHILADELPHIA – The latest musical comedy star may be the Lindburgh Baby because, Baby Case, the world’s first musical about the 1932 Lindburgh kidnapping, debuts next month in Philadelphia.
