DAN RATHER NEEDS SHUTEYE – PRONTO!

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Dan Rather’s emotional outburst Monday night on the David Letterman Show could become normal behavior for all network anchors if they don’t start getting some shut- eye. Ever since the September 11 attack, Rather, Peter Jennings and Tom Brokaw have been averaging about 15 hours a day on the air – and that’s not “good snooze” according to L.A.-based psychologist Dr. Mark Baker. He says the lack of sleep is eventually going to take its toll on the anchors, who are all in their sixties. If the long news days continue, Baker says it’s possible Rather could tear up even more, Jennings could start throwing temper tantrums and Brokaw could become so fatigued he might forget the names of the people he’s interviewing. Baker says the TV networks should require their anchors to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.
