WORLD’S ONLY RE-CREATED ELIZABETHAN THEATER TO OPEN

STAUNTON, Va. (Wireless Flash) – The town of Staunton, Virginia will be entering a new stage in its life tomorrow (Sep. 21) when it opens the world’s only authentic re-creation of an indoor Elizabethan theater. Architects have re-created Britain’s 300-seat Blackfriars Playhouse – which was William Shakespeare’s preferred venue – and, what’s more, they did it without the help of any blue prints. Architects say they had to build the theater using the aid of scholars, historians, and specialists in Renaissance English architecture. Already there is much ado about the theater with one English historian dubbing it “...one of the top five most historically important theaters in the world.” The project cost $3.7 million, and plans are already set to begin on a re- creation of London’s second Globe Theater.
