CROWDED HOUSE, SPLIT ENZ FOUNDERS TO BE HONORED WITH PARK

TE AWAMUTU, New Zealand (Wireless Flash) – The town of Te Awamutu, New Zealand, may soon get crowded with fans of the mid-80s group, Crowded House. Te Awamutu town leaders are planning to name a park after local boys Neil and Tim Finn, the songwriters behind New Zealand’s top New Wave groups, Crowded House and Split Enz. Deputy mayor Peter McCullough says plans for the “Finn Park” include a “Crowded House Corner” and a “Split Enz Gateway” where tourists will be able to take photos. Also scheduled is a “Leaky Boat Cafe” to honor the Split Enz song, “Six Months In A Leaky Boat.” McCullough admits the Finn brothers don’t know about the plan yet but he “can’t imagine” they’d say no to the hometown tribute.
