DAN RATHER INSPIRES LYRIC IN TERRORIST TRAGEDY TUNE

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Dan Rather may not be a poet but his newscasts have provided inspiration for one songwriter. Jim Peterik, who co-wrote “Eye of the Tiger” for the rock group Survivor, credits Rather for inspiring a line in his new song which is a tribute to the victims of the September 11 terrorist tragedy. The tune – “The Day America Cried” – begins with the line, “In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty,” which came directly from one of Rather’s reports following the attacks. Also involved as co-writer of the song is Lynyrd Skynyrd singer Johnny Van Zant who says it would be great if the tune were to become as big an anthem as “Free Bird.” “The Day America Cried” is the title track on a new CD of patriotic songs that will be released next week by Transcension Music Group.
