TERRORIST ATTACKS INCREASING INTEREST IN MENSA

ARLINGTON, Texas (Wireless Flash) – Here’s an interesting side- effect triggered by the war on terrorism: more people are becoming interested in the high-IQ society Mensa. The big-brained group will hold its annual testing day on Saturday (Oct. 20), and a spokesman says twice as many people have signed up to be tested this year than last year. Jim Blackmore thinks the increased interest stems from Americans who feel a greater need to be part of a community group ever since the September 11th nightmare. Currently, the smarty-pants society has 47,000 members in America, and Blackmore expects Mensa will gain 1400 new members this weekend – excluding New Yorkers. Blackmore says for reasons of safety, the New York Mensa chapter has decided not to participate in the national testing day.
