STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Wireless Flash) – The future of finger gestures belongs to the thumbs of Japanese teenagers, according to a British cell phone researcher. Dr. Sadie Plant claims Japanese teenagers are so used to tapping out cell phone messages using their thumbs that they’re now using the appendage for other activities in which the index finger is usually employed – including pointing and ringing doorbells. Dr. Plant says her research is important because “technologically speaking, what happens in Japan today is what the rest of the world does tomorrow.
