FOAM COULD FIGHT ANTHRAX

ATLANTA (Wireless Flash) – The answer to the recent anthrax panic may be foam. Atlanta-based materials scientist Sidney Perkowitz says researchers already have a foam that disrupts toxic nerve or mustard gas and even works on bacteria and viruses. Perkowitz say if toxic gas were to be released on an airplane, it would be easy to fill the plane with the decontaminating foam – even with the passengers still in it. He says the foam resembles dish soap suds, and breaks down the deadly molecular structure of the bacteria. Passengers could see through it, walk through it and even breath through it. Perkowitz discusses other uses for the new foam in his book Universal Foam (Anchor).
