‘SAFE-SORTER’ FOR ANTHRAX-WEARY MAIL ROOMS

‘SAFE-SORTER’ FOR ANTHRAX-WEARY MAIL ROOMS

FREMONT, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – A California company is launching a gizmo that could help mail room employees safely open packages that may contain anthrax spores. The so-called “SafeSorter” is a bread box-sized airtight container with two glove-covered holes on the side. Users are supposed to place a suspicious package inside the box and then open it by slipping their hands into the glove-covered holes on the side. A spokesman for Bliss Industries admits the SafeSorter can’t guarantee a user won’t be exposed to anthrax, but it can reduce the chances. The $300 box is being marketed to business mail rooms, but the company will also sell it to individuals to open mail at home.
