BOZO THE CLOWN: ‘LET’S GIVE AMERICA A BIG HUG’

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Bozo the Clown hasn’t been clowning around since retiring from TV earlier this year – but now he wants to give America “a great big hug.” 76-year-old Larry Harmon, who played Bozo for over 50 years, says he wants to help children affected by the September 11 attacks by staging a benefit show. He says he noticed a lot of support for adults suffering from fears about terrorists, but “doesn’t see the message reaching the children.” Now he wants to bring together Bozo, several Sesame Street characters and Rosie O’Donnell for a show that will address kids’ fears about terrorists. Besides the benefit show, Bozo says he’d also like to write a children’s book with illustrations dramatizing the fears children are having.
