TIPPI HEDREN GOES TO WASHINGTON

ACTON, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Here’s yet another casualty of the terrorist tragedy: Movie star turned animal activist Tippi Hedren says private funding for her animal preserve has all but dried up since September 11. The 70-year-old former Hitchcock girl is the director of Shambala Preserve, a shelter for mistreated and unwanted exotic cats located just north of Los Angeles. Tippi says the preserve is being kept afloat right now solely by money out of her own purse and through funds donated by her daughter Melanie Griffith and son-in-law Antonio Banderas. She will soon head to the U.S. House of Representatives to introduce a bill that will amend the Animal Welfare Act to regulate the personal possession of certain wild animals. The bill was to be introduced this September but was put on hold after the attacks.
