‘HARRY POTTER’ WILL BEAT ‘LORD OF THE RINGS’ IN TOY WARS

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Harry Potter has something to lord over the Lord of the Rings: He’s set to win the holiday toy wars. That’s the prediction from eBay based on the current number of Potter goods being sold on the auction website. Ebay currently has more than 8000 Potter items up for grabs, which is four times as much as the Lord of the Rings merchandise available. A spokesman says eBay is “...an accurate barometer measuring consumer demand,” so these numbers suggest Potter products should dominate holiday toy sales this year. The number of Potter items on the site has increased 300 percent in the six months leading up to this month’s release of the movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
