TONY ORLANDO GOES FROM ‘OAK TREE’ TO WORLD TRADE CENTER

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Tony Orlando is going from the “Old Oak Tree” to the World Trade Center. The man who gave the world “Tie A Yellow Ribbon ’Round The Old Oak Tree” has just written and recorded a love song to the World Trade Center titled, “American Highrise.” Insiders say it sounds like a U2 remake of Orlando’s 1970 hit, “Candida,” with lyrics like: American highrise/ Each dream built one brick at a time. Orlando says he wanted to sing “as starkly as possible, to recreate the feeling at Ground Zero” and says he was especially hurt by the September 11 tragedy because he grew up a few blocks away from the Center. Currently, Orlando doesn’t have a record deal but that may change since “American Highrise” is getting lots of attention from radio stations.
