AMERICAN PRE-TEENS PREFER CHINESE

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – American pre-teens are anything but American when it comes to their taste buds. According to a new survey by the Center for Culinary Development, Chinese food is the No. 1 cuisine preferred by kids ages 10 to 13, followed by Mexican, Japanese and Italian. The kids rank American fare like hot dogs and hamburgers at a lowly No. 5 on the scale. Other findings from the kids’ survey... 81 percent eat out in restaurants at least once a week but 17 percent eat dinner out three or more times a week. The majority of kids who use the internet also eat while surfing the net. And Indian food is rising in popularity: 8 percent of pre-teens say they like samosas, Indian pastries filled with meat and potatoes.
