RANDY JOHNSON GOOD FOR MULLET POPULARITY

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – First, Randy Johnson pitched the Arizona Diamondbacks to three World Series victories – now he also may single-handedly bring back the mullet hairstyle. That’s the long and short of it from “hairstorian” Donald Harrison, who studies the ’80s-era haircut on the MulletsGalore.com website. For those not in the know, a mullet is a style where the hair is short in front and sides, but long in the back – or as fans describe it: “Business in front, party in back.” Although Johnson has trimmed his mullet slightly over the years, Harrison says the ballplayer stuck with it even when it was unpopular – unlike today’s trendoids who wear the ’do as “retro-irony.” Harrison hopes Johnson’s mullet helps the style make a comeback, but admits the pitcher’s 6-foot, 10-inch frame handles the haircut better than most.
