WHEN IS A YELLOW LIGHT NOT A YELLOW LIGHT?

CHRISTCHURCH, N.Z. (Wireless Flash) – When is a yellow light not a yellow light? When it’s amber. That was the simple philosophy that allowed a man in Christchurch, New Zealand, to get out of a traffic ticket. Ray Keown recently appeared in a New Zealand courtroom to protest a ticket he received for driving through – according to the traffic cop – an “amber-colored” traffic signal. Keown says New Zealand’s traffic laws prohibit driving through “yellow” lights – but don’t mention “amber lights” at all. Once Keown pointed out that he wasn’t being accused of running a yellow light, the police withdrew from the case, saving the clever Kiwi a $65 fine.
