MICHIGAN FISHERWOMAN: THE BILLIE JEAN KING OF BASS-FISHING

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. (Wireless Flash) – A woman from Edwardsburg, Michigan, has done for bass fishing what Billie Jean King did for tennis. Renee Flesh, a 38-year-old physical therapist, is the first woman to ever win the National Bass Fishing tournament which she hooked by catching four bass in a two-day contest. Although Flesh admits she can’t cast a rod as far as some guys, she thinks females have a fishing advantage because they have more patience than men. The honor of being the first woman to win a national fishing contest is just sinking in, but she hopes it will convince other ladies not to be intimidated by men because, “...the fish don’t know what sex you are.”
