HOLIDAY TRAVEL A NIGHTMARE FOR PEE-SHY PEOPLE

BALTIMORE (Wireless Flash) – Not everyone who’s afraid to fly home for the holidays is scared of terrorists – some are afraid of airplane rest rooms. That’s according to Steven Soifer, a Baltimore-based social work professor who treats people suffering from “paruresis” – the fear of public rest rooms. Soifer estimates thousands of people won’t be traveling home this Thanksgiving simply because they’re terrified to use public loos. The condition also prevents sufferers from traveling by car, train and bus but, unfortunately, most medical professionals don’t take the syndrome seriously. Soifer is now helping pee-shy people become more comfortable urinating in public by holding wee-wee workshops which you can check out at www.shybladder.org.
