YULE BE ROCKIN’: PAT BENATAR RECORDS CHRISTMAS TUNE

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – Most Christmas carols are inspired by Christmas – but not Pat Benatar’s. She’s just written a Christmas song called “Christmas In America” that is actually about the September 11 terrorist attacks. The 48-year-old ’80s icon says she’s wanted to write a Christmas song for years but was stumped because, in her words, “You just can’t sit down and write something Christmasy.” However, she says after September 11, Christmas began to mean more to her, so she wrote the song to let terrorists know they’re not going to take America’s spirit away, just make it stronger. Although “Christmas In America” was inspired by this year’s events, Benatar hopes the song will become a standard. “Christmas In America” hits stores December 15 and all proceeds will go to the victims of the terrorist attack.
