MISTER ED GETS A PHD IN THERAPY

TUCSON, Ariz. (Wireless Flash) – Horses aren’t just for riding these days – they make great psychotherapists too. That’s according to Linda Korhanov, the founder of a group that uses horses to help people recover from problems like abuse and addiction. Korhanov says it sometimes takes months for human therapists to figure out their patients’ problems, but horses have a “sixth sense” which allows them to immediately detect what’s going on. She also says people open up when they’re around horses and discuss their troubles more openly. A typical “horse therapy” session lasts 90 minutes and consists of the patient picking out a horse, grooming it and riding it. Korhanov says the therapy sessions also help humans develop their own “sixth sense” to read peoples’ feelings, which is helpful for avoiding folks who want to do them harm.
