NEW FREEZING TECHNIQUE FOR PROSTATE PROBLEMS

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) – A new method of treating prostate cancer works by freezing the problem away. Scientists at Florida’s Center for Surgical Advancement are reducing prostate tumors by poking frozen needles directly on the tumor. The needle is injected between the anus and testicles and freezes the tumor repeatedly until it dies. Researcher Dr. Gary Onik says the popsicle prostate probe is less invasive than radiation or surgical removal, which he compares to “launching Scud missiles on the prostate,” and are linked to impotence. Dr. Onik will discuss the new freezing technique tomorrow (Nov. 27) at the Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago.
