SAN DIEGO BAND DOES THE BAR-MITZVAH BOOGIE

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Adam Sandler’s “Chanukah Song” is ticking off a Jewish rocker who says the tune is inaccurate. Sandler’s song praises Jewish celebrities, but San Diego-based musician Adam Gimbel insists two of the ones mentioned, Rod Carew and Jennifer Beals, are actually Gentiles. Now, Gimbel is fighting fire with fire by forming his own Jewish culture tribute band, “Rabbi Gimbel’s Chanukah-time Review,” which he fronts while dressed in rabbi robes. The rest of the band dresses like Jewish musicians Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash. Their repertoire includes Hasidic hits like “Palestine City” – a Jewish remake of Guns N’ Roses “Paradise City” – and a KISS cover song titled, “I Wanna Chanukah All Night (and Dreidel Everyday.)” Gimbel hasn’t received complaints from fellow Jews but he dropped the group’s original name – “Rabbi Schlomo’s Jews Explosion” – when he heard about the recent suicide bombings in Jerusalem.
