PUNK BAND SERENADES PHOEBE CATES

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – The now-reclusive Fast Times at Ridgemont High co-star Phoebe Cates is being dragged back into the spotlight. The San Diego-based punk band Fenix-TX, has a new US radio hit called “Phoebe Cates” that praises her with racy, raunchy rhymes, such as Now I’m kissing TV screens and also references Cates’ films like Gremlins and Bright Lights, Big City. But if Cates hates or loves the song, she isn’t talking. Her publicist says Cates – who recently appeared in The Anniversary Party – “...has retired and doesn’t take interviews.” Fenix-TX drummer Damon Delapaz is pretty easy-going about the whole deal, saying even if Cates never makes another movie or acknowledges the song it’s okay because, “She’ll always be Phoebe Cates.”
