‘COPACABANA’ PRODUCER VOWS TO BRING DISCO BACK

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – This news will be a kick for disco fans: The producer of Barry Manilow’s 1978 hit, “Copacabana” is hustling up a disco revival. Next week, producer Ron Dante is re-releasing Dante’s Inferno, a 1979 recording featuring disco versions of “Ain’t Misbehavin,”’ “I Go To Rio,” and Melanie’s 1971 hit, “Brand New Key.” Disco’s quick cooldown kept Dante’s Inferno from heating up the charts in its first release, but Dante says, these days, the recordings sound like lost disco artifacts. He thinks they will appeal to more than just retro trendoids. In fact, Dante – who also sang lead on the Archies’ 1969 hit, “Sugar, Sugar” – says if the CD is a hit, he may form a live band to do 70s-disco versions of modern songs.
