INDIANA SHOE COLLECTOR WRITES CHILDREN’S BOOK TO BOOT

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (Wireless Flash) – The old woman who lived in a shoe is getting some competition from a woman in Indiana who owns 800 pairs of shoes and has just written a children’s book about them. Grandmother of nine, Marge Welker, began collecting shoes back in high school when a pal gave her some wooden Dutch clogs. Since then, Welker has kicked up her collection to 800 pairs of wearable and miniature shoes. Not only that, but her shoe kick also inspired her to write a book called Winky’s Wonderful World of Shoes (Trafford), which features a character named Winky who travels to countries like Holland and Korea and learns all about footwear of the world. Now that the book is finished, Welker says she just wants to relax and put her feet up. However, she says friends now want her to write a book about her collection of 90 hats.
