Space Needle Gets Retro Make-Over

Space Needle Gets Retro Make-Over

SEATTLE (Wireless Flash) – Seattle’s Space Needle is getting a retro make-over for its 40th anniversary. The Space Needle was erected for the World’s Fair in 1962, and now it will be re-painted its original “Galaxy Gold” color. According to the Space Needle Corporation, the 605 foot-tall structure has been painted four times since 1962. The last time was in 1999 and used almost 2,000 gallons of “Space Needle White” paint. Besides the retro-paint job, the Space Needle’s restaurant will be serving its original 1962 menu: Swedish meat ball casserole, chicken pot pie, Salisbury steak and baked Alaska. In addition, the tower interior will have plenty of World’s Fair memorabilia including Space Needle salt-and-pepper shakers, plates, stamps and envelopes.
