Global Scavenger Hunters Eat Butterflies, Visit Bathhouses

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Have you got what it takes to be a global traveller? Well, you might have to eat bugs and hang out in bathhouses. On April 12, the GreatEscape travel company’s Global Scavenger Hunt kicks off in a quest to find the world’s greatest travelling team, with a $100,000 prize going to the winner. Event creator Bill Chalmers says the hunt – which will be filmed for a documentary – will send teams of travellers off on a three-week scavenger hunt through 16 countries and 10 continents. Chalmers says the contestants will have to do things like eat plates of butterflies, take pictures of themselves in Turkish bathhouses and challenge locals to karaoke battles in Japan. But if you’re thinking of trying out for next year’s event, Chalmers warns that only the most seasoned travelers will be considered.
