LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – You may know him as Captain Picard from Star Trek the Next Generation, but Patrick Stewart’s latest role sees him messing with Texas – accents, that is. Stewart stars in King of Texas, a King Lear adaptation which debuts June 2 on TNT and had to learn to talk Texan for the role. But if learning a new accent for a role seems tough enough, Stewart says the accent he had to learn hasn’t existed for 100 years – a Texas frontier accent, which is almost more North Carolinian than Texan. But Stewart says the coarse, “big” accent was a breeze. He says he “enjoys working with new accents, like any actor does.”
