Scooby-Doo Star: ‘Thank God I was a Mime’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – Being a mime does have it’s benefits – at least for Matthew Lillard, who plays Shaggy in the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo. He says the movie made him grateful for his experience as a mime since he had to act opposite a talking dog that wasn’t there until animators added it in post-production. Lillard tells the upcoming Boxoffice magazine, “At acting school you always have to do this whole mime thing, and thank god, because I used so many of those skills in this movie.” The mime experience especially came in handy in scenes where the animated Scooby tackles Lillard and leaps into his arms – and in co-star Linda Cardellini’s opinion, it works. Cardellini, who plays Velma, says the end result “looks great.” Scooby-Doo opens in theaters June 14.
