Mysterious Crosses Popping Up Across Des Moines, Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa (Wireless Flash) – Looks like Des Moines, Iowa, has a few crosses to bear – six to be exact. But no one knows how they got there. The mysterious wooden crosses are about four-feet-tall and started appearing in trees on the outskirts of Des Moines last fall – seemingly overnight. No one knows who is putting up the crosses and locals are baffled as to the meaning, such as journalist Michelle Rubin of Des Moines Cityview magazine, who wonders if it’s some kind of ad. Even stranger: In recent weeks, some crosses have moved across town to new locations Although Des Moines’ cross crusade is bizarre, Rubin says sheriffs haven’t had any complaints and she figures locals are more “confused than cross.”
