Minty Fresh Workplace Yields Higher Productivity
PHOENIX (Wireless Flash) Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme may be the name of a Simon & Garfunkel album, but it could also be a recipe for productivity at work. According to Phoenix-based aromatherapist David Schiller, releasing scents made with herbs and spices can benefit the moods of workers. Schiller says releasing rosemary into the air can stimulate the memory and make workers alert, while thyme can be used to relax employees at stressful jobs. Birch oil or wintergreen can have calming effects, but he admits one shop owner found it worked so well her customers wandered around the store in a daze. Schiller also says misting the air with peppermint oil or cinnamon can knock out offensive lunch odors like microwaved fish better than air- fresheners.
